Don’t miss this special opportunity to visit Vienna, a city that was once the imperial and cultural centre of Europe as well as the seat of the Habsburg Empire in the 18th century. Travel through the picturesque landscape of Bohemia and Moravia, towards the southern border of the Czech Republic. Approximately 3 1/2 hours later we arrive in Vienna, a cultural and architectural masterpiece divided by Europe’s largest river, the Danube.
Our mini-bus will travel the famous Ringstrasse, a grand boulevard built in the 1880’s by Emperor Franz Joseph I on the site of demolished city walls. Along the way, you will see splendid, majestic buildings including palaces, museums, hotels and parks with statues of important historic people. Next we travel to Vienna’s southern edge where you can view Schönbrunn (the former summer residence of the imperial family) and its beautiful reservoir. After the tour of the gardens and the Schönbrunn Castle (own expense), we will return by mini-bus to the city centre for a walking tour through Hofburg (own expense), the Habsburg’s winter residence. Then we will travel to Saint Stephen’s Cathedral.
After the guided tour, enjoy free time for lunch or shopping on your own. At the end of this free time, we will meet in front of Saint Stephens’s Cathedral to board the mini-bus for the return trip to Prague.
